Control Design in Aerospace and Automotive Systems - How to reduce risk in complex system design?
A presentation at the Symposium on Automotive/Avionics Systems Engineering (SAASE) in October 2009 in San Diego was given by Horst Salzwedel, MLDesign Technologies Inc.
This presentation explains why pure requirement based design methodology fails in the design of increasingly complex networked aerospace and automotive systems and makes flying/driving less safe again. The presentation shows what can be done now to significantly reduce risk and cost in complex system development. It illustrates with several examples how model based engineering at mission level can overcome the design problems of complex systems with executable specifications. The presentation ends with a juxtaposition of requirement based and model based engineering.
